Notes
re Meteorologist (Masters - M.A. or MSc) Courses (with thanks to Morley
Thomas, Hans Van Leeuwen and Laura Smith)
These courses were not
universally photographed.
Many names of M.A. / MSc course participants from 1941 through 1975
have
been listed and have been added to this table as "year - names".
Three universities are involved: Toronto, McGill, and Alberta, and
reference
to those where appropriate is included with the names. If not
referenced,
courses are assumed to have been given at University of Toronto.
University of
Alberta
(1975-1998)
In 2010, a large number of
meteorology group
photos at University of Alberta were added. They cover 1975 to
1998
and include both graduates by year and groups by year. The group
photos contain many of the meteorological post graduate students and
their
professors, so there will be overlapping names. This collection
was
photographed and compiled by Laura A. Smith, who provided
administrative
support to U of A's post graduate programs in meteorology.
Finally,
while the U of A photos are located in Table 3, Meteorologist (Masters
- M.A. or MSc) Courses, various members of U of A's diploma courses,
BSc,
PhD, post-docs, researchers and visitors may appear, especially in the
later years.
* "Course" photos at the post graduate levels, especially the PhD
students are rare. In 2021 a group photo of Prof. Roland List's 1975 graduate
students was discovered. The same discovery, by Stewart Coben, included a caracture
collage commissioned in 1994 including his 1975 students in the
photograph plus many more of his (Prof. List's) students. Links
to these are found above and in Table 10.
