Historical Meteorological Photos - How to Contribute Your Photos

Send in Your Photos

We want to include your photos in the collection.  If you have a group photo which you think might fit into any of the categories, please scan it at high resolution and send it by email to: jonesb@ncf.ca

Dating and IDs in Photos

Please try to identify the year of the photo, anyone you know who is in it, and the occasion.  Once posted, our viewers should be able to fill in missing information.

Resolution

High resolution normally means up to 1 MB for black and white photos, depending on print size; 3+ MB for colour photos.  These resolutions are normally the size of a medium resolution digital photo out of the camera.  The high resolution is helpful if the photo has to be cropped and will always produce a clearer copy for the web.

Snail Mail

If scanning is not an option, borrowing and returning by snail mail is possible.  Please send them to:

Bob Jones
24 Higgins Road
Nepean, ON
K2G 0R5

and they will be scanned and returned promptly.

Dropbox and FTP

If you have a large number of photos, Dropbox can easily be used - yours or mine.  File transfer (FTP) can also be used instead of sending emails with attachments.  Dropbox and FTP are much faster than email.  Again, please get in touch to set those up.

Photo Quality Upgrades

Finally, if you have an original clear print of a blurry photo which we already have posted, we would love to improve the quality for posting and would appreciate a copy.  Blurry photos are often copies of copies or reprints from newpapers or magazines such as Zephyr.
