Hi Folks:

Great lunch meet yesterday - the causal summer-time planning meets is a
great idea and I think we will end up with a leg up starting the new season.
Here are some notes taken.

 

SPEAKERS

1.  We hope to get the Patterson Medal awarded at the September luncheon
with Barry Goodison as the luncheon speaker. 

.         Ann M. to liaise with David Grimes office to coordinate a date for
a September award.  Will need to sync with Barry's availability

.         Sheila B. to coordinate with Barry to solicit a talk from him
after the award.

 

2.  Ken MacDonald for October.  

.         I don't know Ken . I think Ann M. stated that she would contact
him.

 

3.  Doug Alport for November.  

.         Ann M. to liaise

 

4.  XMAS December.  My notes got scrambled - but we wanted an Arctic
presentation - perhaps sponsored by the ARCTIC-SIG.  

.         Ann can you elaborate ?

 

ABSTRACTS & LUNCHEON PREPS

.         We should have the same scheduled event every month so that every
knows when the luncheon will be held (i.e. every 3rd Thursday of each month)
Are we sticking to the third Thursday ?

.         Abstracts NEED to be in 3 weeks before the event

.         The speaker for the following luncheon should be announced at each
luncheon.  This is better for planning purposes for those who attend.

.         Numbers are dwindling over the past 5 years.  The Exec should
start reaching out to departmental DGs to solicit greater participation

.         Marty to coordinate with CNC-SCOR and CMOS to host the tour
speaker.

 

THE CLOCKTOWER

.         Contact: brett@clocktower.ca

.         Great Venue to mix up the luncheon.  Perhaps we should book
November at the Clocktower (or as Adrienne suggested in her email -
comments)

.         Should it be a noon luncheon or should we try an after work event
as suggested  by Adrienne ? Say 3 or 4:30pm

.         Use an amount each luncheon at the pub to offset some snacks.

.         I am averse to selling tickets - I think the survey monkey route
works relatively well to know who will show

.         I have included Adrienne's email as an attachments as she
articulated some very good points

 

NEXT SUMMER MEETING

.         Aug 1st:  I think we want to try Irene's Pub ??  What is the
address ?

.         At the Aug 1st meeting - let's review the fall speakers and assess
where we are at with the invites and coordination.

.         And let's set a schedule of noon and afterwork events for the fall
and new year

 

AUG 29 MEETING

.         This will be the last Summer pub lunch where we will be finalising
details for the upcoming season. 

.         We should try to find a place in Gatineau to meet.
