RCAF Station Mont-Joli QC - December 1942

Notes:  These two RCAF Met Observers were likely among the first women graduates of the Women's Division, Met Ob trade established in WW II by the RCAF.  They are not yet identified, but likely graduated from the courses seen in Table 4 (1942 box). The month and date were established from the calendar visible at the upper right.  Credit is given to the holders of the photograph, DND Archives Canada.  Correspondence with them indicated the photo came from their collection of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP) showing the new RCAF base at Mont-Joli QC which was part of the BCATP plan.  In 1945, the station was transferred to the Department of Transport which continued to operate the airfield and weather station with civilian staff.
