Portugese Meteorological Staff Visit 315 Bloor Street Office, Toronto - 1948

The photo to the left was contributed by the daughter of meteorologist Mona Pirie.  Mona was one of the pioneer lady meteorologists in the Meteorological Branch, graduating in 1944 from Short Course Number 10 in Meteorology.  Unfortunately Mona missed the course photo, but she obviously continued working in meteorology into the post-war period.

On the back of this photo is written:

"To my friend Mona Pirie,

José Furto Peixoto
Servicio Meteo Nacionale
L. Sf Isabel
Lisboa
March 1948"

The scene of the radiosonde release is the then spacious back yard of Met Branch HQs at 315 Bloor Street, Toronto.
